Liz Stephan taught IB Literature for many years at St John’s International School Belgium and subsequently at Hockerill Anglo-European College in the UK. She also taught IB Theatre Arts and Drama at St Johns. Liz has worked with Oxford Study Courses for 16 years teaching ‘Mid IB’ and Exam Revision courses, also Writing, Oral Presentation, and Extended Essay courses.
Liz has been leading IB Literature workshops for over 20 years and has worked for most of the training Providers. She is especially interested in teaching approaches that make literature accessible and memorable, leading to more engaged, confident and effective teacher and student performance.
In 1996 she was given a Fellowship from Corpus Christi College Cambridge to write a teacher handbook for IB Literature. Subsequently she wrote two IB Literature study and revision guides for Oxford Study Courses (2003 and 2013). Most recently she contributed a chapter on teaching poetry to the Oxford University Press IB series Perspectives on Planning Teacher Companion: English A Literature.
Liz has a wide range of examining experience, focusing particularly on Internal Assessment.
