    Session 2-How can case studies enhance the curriculum?

    • To share examples of case studies on a protected area or a local environmental issue, prepared by participants.
    • To analyse the syllabus for opportunities to use a case study approach.

    Session 3-How can we prepare students for Paper 1?

    • To become familiar with Paper 1 assessment.
    • To formulate strategies which will increase achievement in Paper 1.

    • Identify challenging topics and common misconceptions.

    • To provide an overview of the IA requirements in ESS.
    • To develop ideas and plan for how to enhance learning through the PSOW.
    • To share ideas and plan for effective fieldwork opportunities.

    Session 6-What will be the best preparation for the IA?

    • To understand the nature of the IA and the assessment criteria.
    • To understand how the IA is graded.
    • Share ideas on how to facilitate this element of the assessment.
    • Plan how to improve success in this assessment.

    • To understand how Paper 2 is assessed.
    • To share ideas on the use of the big questions.

    • To explore ideas related to international mindedness and learner profile
    • To explore the use of EVS as a medium to link to TOK.

    Session 9-What does ‘action’ look like in ESS: enhancing the curriculum through EE and CAS?

    • To explore the meaning of ‘action’ in the context of ESS.
    • To enhance understanding of the Extended Essay assessment.
    • To explore ideas on promoting academic honesty.
    • To share ideas on how to stimulate action and about the organisation of the extended essay.

    Session 10-What do I need to do for the future in ESS?

    • To provide a final opportunity for sharing resources.
    • To allow time for planning for the future and embedding ideas from the workshop into teaching.
