Jonathan Newell has a wide range of experience in music and teaching both in the UK and in Norway, Cairo and Vienna. He has worked in Higher Education at Trinity College of Music London and has been on the panel of music examiners for Trinity Guildhall international examinations since 2000. Jonathan regularly leads teacher-training workshops for the IB around the world in Music and Extended Essay (generic). In the past he has trained IB workshop leaders from a range of subject disciplines in Australia, Switzerland, and the UK. He is an IBDP schools exams inspector, a member of the IB’s Schools Authorisation Visit team, and a facilitator and developer for online workshops in both DP Music and the Extended Essay. Other responsibilities are as a global session observer for IB workshops, and IBDP Field Representative (Academic) for the Africa, Europe and Middle East region. Jonathan lives in Oxford, England, where he is Director of College Music and Tuotor at Brasenose College, Oxford University, and Organ Tutor at Magdalen College School. He holds a Master's degree in Choral Education from the University of Surrey, England, is an Honorary Fellow of the Cambridge Society of Musicians – awarded for distinguished services to music and music education in the UK – and an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
